This profession with excellent future prospects offers you:
Prerequisite: at least a good secondary school certificate, Fachhochschulreife or Abitur, good manners and teamwork.
Duration of training: 3.5 years (shortening possible)
During the training you will learn the basics of "technical drawing". You will learn how to represent bodies and workpieces in different views and steps. In addition, a "basic mechanical training" takes place in the training workshop or departments. You will get to know all manual and machining methods and tools. The knowledge is transferred to work on 3D / 2D CAD drawing programs. For this a detailed training with exercises takes place. All this requires great care, which is also important when modifying drawings.
In the last part of the training, the acquired technical knowledge is deepened. You create individual, assembly and overall drawings for machines and tools taking into account material properties and manufacturing processes. Calculations of all kinds are also part of your daily work, as well as the visualization and presentation of work results.
Technical product designers translate the specifications of design engineers into detailed drawings and technical documents and are therefore involved in product development and production. Technical drawings are a sketch as a means of communication; as a part drawing they are the working basis for the production; As an overall illustration, drawings help the sales team to talk to the customer. Therefore, the technical product designer must know the individual processes and requirements exactly. Nowadays, such drawings are created on modern 2D / 3D CAD systems.
