Preconditions: at least a good Realschulabschluss, Fachhochschulreife or Abitur, good manners and teamwork.
Duration of training: 3.5 years (shortening possible)
During the apprenticeship you are going to learn the basics of technical drawing. You will learn how to represent bodies and workpieces in different views and steps. In addition, a basic mechanical training will take place in the training workshop and accordingly in the concerning departments. You will become acquainted with all manual and machining methods and tools. The knowledge is transferred to work on 3D/2D CAD drawing programs. In addition to this a detailed training with exercises will takes place. This requires carefulness and accuranteness which are also important for modifying drawings.
At the end of the apprenticeship the acquired technical knowledge is going to be deepened. You will create technical drawings for single parts, component parts and overall machines considering material properties and manufacturing processes. Nowadays drawings are created on modern 2D/3D CAD systems. Different kinds of calculations are also part of the daily working routine, as well as visualization and presentation of results.
Technical product designers translate the specifications of constructing engineers into detailed drawings and technical documents. They are directly involved in product development and production.
